What Is TAP Pest Control Insulation?

How Does Pest Control Insulation Work?

Pest control insulation is made up of dry cellulose fibers that are treated with pesticides. The specific type of insulation Royal Pest Services installs is called TAP (Thermal Acoustical Pest Control). TAP has an EPA-registered pesticide that is made up of recycled paper, and contains borate which is disruptive to pests.

The insulation is usually blown into attics, walls, and other inaccessible areas, providing a barrier against pests. During installation, we add-on to your existing insulation, increasing the overall R-value, which means making it a better insulator for your home, keeping you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

What Are The Benefits Of Pest Control Insulation?

You might be asking yourself, if you already have insulation, do you still need TAP insulation? The answer is, yes! Normal insulation does not come with any pest control and leaves your house vulnerable. TAP insulation can act as a pest deterrent, preventing the intruders from causing damage.

Savings on Energy Bills

Several factors contribute to a home’s energy efficiency. We’ve seen up to a 30% reduction in a home’s energy bill after installation. This is due to TAP insulation having exceptional thermal efficiency. The recycled newsprint used in the insulation contains tiny air pockets that trap and slow down heat transfer. This means, during hot summers, TAP insulation helps keep interiors cool by preventing the intrusion of external heat. In the colder months, it acts as a barrier, preventing heat from escaping.

Better External Noise Control

Beyond thermal efficiency, TAP insulation is renowned for its acoustic insulation properties. The dense structure of the material absorbs sound waves, reducing noise levels and creating a quieter indoor environment. This makes TAP insulation an ideal choice for residential and commercial spaces where noise reduction is a priority.

How Long Does Pest Control Insulation Last?

As long as the insulation is installed correctly and is not damaged, it can remain effective for over two decades. And since insects cannot build up a tolerance to the borate inside the cellulose, TAP will remain effective against them during its entire lifecycle.

What Pests Can Invade My Attic?

There are several types of pests that can crawl into your attic. For people living in Florida, these can include:

  • Ants
  • Centipedes
  • Cockroaches
  • Earwigs
  • Millipedes
  • Rats
  • Silverfish
  • Stink bugs
  • Termites

If left untreated, these pests can start causing serious damage to your home. From chewing through drywall, gnawing on electrical wiring, to damaging appliances, a single pest can cause thousands of dollars in damage. Not to mention potential diseases they might carry into your home like Lyme Disease, Salmonella, and more.

I can not stress enough how great this company. They are bunch of professionals when it comes to... customer service and following up with my concerns especially the owner of the company himself. I had termite tenting service through them and couple of my neighbors saw there was a gap hole during the tenting process and notified me. The tenting happened on the weekend and I was very concerned on the result hence I contacted Goody immediately which he was the person that did the initial inspection. Upon contacting Goody on Saturday, he advised me that he is no longer with the company and had communicated my concerns with one of his previous co-worker on Royal Pest Services. After several times texting the phone no. that was provided to me be Goody, the owner of the Royal Pest Service himself called me to address my problem on the weekend! I was surprised and also realize that the owner of the company does take pride of their service and assure me that they are rectifying the problem and advised me on solution. I am vary satisfied with the level of service and quality of this company.Anyone that need termite pest service, look no further!read more

He was helpful, informative and within 3 days Isaac had already reached out to let me know when he would be starting. It was the same week to make it all that much better! Thanks Mike and Isaac, looking forward to the results.read more

I've cared for my lawn for a long time. This fall, weeds just took over and I needed help. I... checked neighboring lawns and found the best looking lawns used Royal. I saw Robert Mendez spraying a neighbors lawn and talked to him as he was wrapping up. He kindly took my name and Mike called within hours. We signed up for services and Robert came back and sprayed the yard and offered some great advice. He came back 2 weeks later and retreated a couple spots and again offered some great advice. I really appreciated the personal touch and can see a dramatic improvement in such a short amount of time.read more
